Croydon Council wanted to be recognised for their achievements in public service HR, by entering the prestigious Public Sector People Managers (PPMA) awards.
Blue Heron Communications worked with Croydon's Human Resources and Organisational Development team to write their award entries.
The end result - Croydon was shortlisted for 100% of the awards that it entered and won the HR Transformation and HR Business Impact awards at the PPMA Annual Conference in Manchester, becoming the only double winner. The quality of the entries was recognised in one of the award speeches.
We first discussed the different award criteria with the council, and using our in-depth knowledge of their business, recommended which awards we thought they should enter. We then thoroughly researched their submission, identifying the human capital metrics and other figures to support it and obtained supporting quotes from a range of staff and stakeholders.
We then produced the final award entries to a very tight deadline and high quality, consistent with the council's branding.
We're now working with Croydon to use the awards as a springboard to obtain further positive coverage in the HR specialist media including the Local Government Chronicle. We've built up effective relationships with editors on behalf of the council and positively identify forward feature opportunities. In the last year we've obtained coverage for Croydon in Personnel Today, People Management, Human Resources and HRDirector.
