re3 is the partnership between Bracknell Forest, Reading and Wokingham Borough Councils and Waste Recycling Group (WRG) set up to increase the amount of waste that is reused, recycled and composted across the three boroughs and minimise the amount of waste sent to landfill.
re3 asked Blue Heron Communications to develop and improve the communications programme for their 25 year, £610m Private Finance Initiative, maximise the public profile and media coverage for the project and ensure communications were well co-ordinated across the partnership.
So far we have developed a communications strategy for the partnership, written a core narrative and key messages and produced a range of communications materials, including a four-page newspaper supplement and articles for the partners' council newspapers. We've supported the project brand development to ensure that all the partners get recognition for their role.
Most recently, we devised and implemented a media plan for the launch of re3's flagship recycling centre resulting in an exceptionally high level of media coverage including regional television, a live radio broadcast and extensive coverage in specialist and trade media.
We are now supporting re3 in ensuring a continued high public profile for the project including writing award entries, trade media targeting and other recognition activities. We have just helped the re3 partnership to win the Civic Amenity Site of the Year award in the www.letsrecycle.com awards.
Kevin Holyer, Head of Environment and Consumer Services at Reading Borough Council said:
"The positive media attention the partnership has benefited from is a testament to your hard work and provides the much needed catalyst for a sustained programme of high profile events in the year ahead".
